How should I care for my new tattoo immediately after getting it?
Remove bandage 2 hours following the tattoo. Clean with antibacterial hand soap and water thoroughly after removing the bandage. Then let it dry out and keep it clean with the same antibacterial hand soap a few times a day for about three days. After the third day, moisturize your tattoo with non scented lotion or aquaphor. Just a dab will do it, as needed.
How long does it take for a tattoo to heal completely?
About a month fully healed.
Can I swim or expose my new tattoo to sunlight during the healing process?
Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, oceans, bath tubs for at least two weeks to prevent infection. Direct sunlight is not recommended yet sometimes unavoidable so just keep an eye on it and don’t let it get exposed for too long.
What should I do if my tattoo becomes red, swollen, or painful during the healing process?
Tattoos are going to be red, swollen and painful immediately after for a couple days. However if you notice significant scabbing, swelling, hot to the touch, it could mean there is an infection present and if it doesn’t go away, you should contact your physician or urgent care for antibiotics. Infections are very rare and typically don’t affect the actual healing of the tattoo, however if it does, touch ups are not a problem.
Consultations
Get all your tattoo consultation questions answered in one place. From design ideas to scheduling, I’ve got you covered.
Do I need to schedule a consultation in advance?
In person Consultations are 100% recommended. Not only will we get to connect and talk about your tattoo, but you will get a feel of the shop and who I am as a person. Consults can always be done via email if needed for travel purposes, however in person is always preferred.
How long does a tattoo consultation typically last?
A proper consultation can last anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour depending on the project. Larger work obviously would require a longer consultation to go over details compared to a one shot tattoo.
Pricing
Find clarity on tattoo pricing questions here. Whether it's understanding rates or estimating costs, I’m here to help.
Do you charge by the hour or by the piece?
Large scale work (multiple sessions) is a rate of $150/hr. This is so we can work with a budget and reduce the financial strain of a high cost project. One shot tattoos typically go by the piece with a shop minimum of $100 for something small and basic, and then price goes up depending on size, complexity and whether it’s in color or black and grey. For example a color traditional hand sized piece typically goes for around $400 and palm sized being about $250-$300 ballpark.
Are deposits required for tattoo appointments?
Deposits are required to book an appointment. Typically $50-$100 for one shot tattoos, and for large scale work I take an hour ($150) up front. Deposits are non refundable, however they do come off the full price of the tattoo. For example, if your deposit is $100 and your tattoo total comes out to $400, you’ll only owe $300 the day of your appointment. You can reschedule appointments with 48 hours notice and transfer the deposit one time only. If you wish to book after a second cancellation you will have to leave another deposit.
Can I get a quote for my tattoo before scheduling an appointment?
Quotes are always given at the time of a consultation. I also am always willing to work with a budget. You can always tell me what you’d like to spend and I’ll tell you what we can do for the cost.
